Truth & Reconciliation Community Walk
Please wear an orange shirt, regalia, or orange attire to honor Truth and Reconciliation. Join us as we walk through the village to honor the children who never came home from residential schools, remember the survivors, and recognize the families and generations who carry this history.
Event Schedule:
12:00 p.m. — Community Walk
We will gather at q̓àq̓ut̓haa̓ilas (School) and walk together to the east end of the village.
Wuìk̓inux̌v Paddle Song
The men will lead us in singing the Wuìk̓inux̌v Paddle Song.
Return to the Wuìk̓inux̌v Big House
We will walk back together to the Big House for lunch.
Wuìk̓inux̌v Love Song
Alvina Johnson and Patricia Johnson-Watts will sing the Wuìk̓inux̌v Love Song. Everyone is welcome to join in.
This is a day to remember, reflect, honor, and stand together. Through our songs, language, teachings, and gathering, we continue to carry forward our identity, culture, connections, and strength.
Please bring your families, Elders, and young ones. Come walk with us, share in the songs, and stand together in remembrance. Everyone connected to Wuìk̓inux̌v is welcome.
