Community Liaison, Biomass Energy Feasibility Study




Get Involved in Wuikinuxv’s Energy Self Sufficiency! Wuikinuxv Nation is seeking a community member to support an upcoming Biomass Energy Feasibility Study. The Community Liaison role provides a great opportunity to learn about how we can turn biomass resources (wood fibre) into energy to heat our buildings.


ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work collaboratively with external contractors to identify local wood fibre resources

  • Identify community members who may be interested in training and employment opportunities related to a future bio-energy system

  • Identify existing nation-owned equipment that may be utilized for the harvesting, processing, transport, and/or storage of wood fibre resources in the community

  • Collect information about how buildings in the community are currently heated

  • Provide monthly updates to the community in the newsletter and online

  • Assist community members with filling out forms and surveys

  • Assist in coordinating site visits and educational information sessions

  • Attend bi-weekly project meetings


RECOMMENDED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of Wuikinuxv lands and forestry operations

  • Interest in sustainable energy and green buildings

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Comfortable using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and email

  • Self-motivated and hardworking

POSITION DETAILS

  • Position Start: immediate to March 2022

  • Hours: approximately 20 hours a week

  • Rate: Both hourly rates and salary are to be negotiated during review process.
