Wuikinuxv Nation – Labourer

The Housing Department is looking for a Labourer for a temporary part-time position.


  • Steel toe work boots, hard hat, reflective vest

  • Able to perform any manual labour needs (clean up, sweeping, packing materials, etc.)

  • Previous construction experience an asset but not required

  • Physically fit, punctual, dependable, and hardworking

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning and preparing construction sites

  • Loading and unloading materials and equipment

  • Building and taking down scaffolding and temporary structures

  • Digging trenches, compacting earth, and back-filling holes

  • Operating and tending machinery and heavy equipment

  • Renovations (indoor/outdoor)

  • Construction Work

  • Maintenance Duties

  • Checking in with Nedo the Housing Manager at 8:30am every morning for daily tasks

  • Perform tasks involving physical labour at building, highway, and heavy construction projects, tunnel and shaft excavations, and demolition sites

  • Operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments

  • Clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, clean up rubble and debris, and remove asbestos, lead, and other hazardous waste materials

  • Assist other craft workers

  • Mop, brush or spread paints, cleaning solutions, or other compounds over surfaces to clean them or to provide protection

  • Operate jackhammers and drills to break up concrete or pavement

  • Shovel cement and other materials into portable cement mixers; and mix, pour, and spread concrete

  • Position or dismantle forms for pouring concrete, using saws, hammers, nails, or bolts

  • Demolition
