Deckhand for Halibut Season on the Western Bounty
The Wuikinuxv Fisheries Program is looking to hire crew for the Western Bounty’s
halibut season. If you have already applied you are already in the hiring pool.
PRIMARY DUTIES
Act as deckhand for Halibut fishery on Western Bounty
PREFERRED (BUT NOT REQUIRED) QUALIFICATIONS
Radio operator’s certificate
SVOP small vessel operator training
First Aid training
Marine Emergency Duty training
PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Cooking
Knot tying
Fish cutting
Basic mechanical aptitude
Experience and/or training in safe operation of small vessels or fishing vessels
Preferable experience in long-lining for halibut
Works well as part of a team;
Nonviolent communicator
Reliable
Safe
Physically able to carry out labour intensive duties and work long days
POSITION DETAILS
Seasonal and part-time
Starting pay rate is a standard crew share, or percentage of the catch
Reports directly to Skipper and Fisheries Manager
